Singer Amy Winehouse was indicted Wednesday as part of an attack on a theater, police said. The 26-year-soul diva was arrested after it appeared in a police station with his lawyer, Thames Valley Police, said in a statement.
He was accused of a crime of assault and public order under the name Civil Amy, after an accident Saturday in Milton Keynes Theater, police said. Winehouse has received a divorce from her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, in the month of July.
She is free on bail and will appear in court January 20.
The police gave no details about the accident, but British media reported that the singer was allegedly beaten with a staff member of the theater after a break of performance.
Winehouse was acquitted earlier this year of assaulting a fan who asked him to take his picture, after a judge said he could not be certain whether the woman was attacked deliberately. Prosecutors claimed that Winehouse was drunk when he hit the woman in the eye, but the singer said he had acted only to defend against excessive distance fan-friendly.
Winehouse jump of international fame with the Grammy for the album “Back to Black” in 2006, but his music has been overshadowed by allegations of drug use, legal problems and a tumultuous marriage.
